Osteoarthritis
Katherine Annala LAc. 2012
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. Often called wear-and-tear arthritis, osteoarthritis occurs when the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears down over time.
While osteoarthritis can damage any joint in your body, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, neck, lower back, knees and hips.
Osteoarthritis treatments can slow the progression of the disease, relieve pain and improve joint function.
Recommendations:
Avoid foods containing solanacea: eggplant, tomato, green pepper, potato, paprika, cayenne, and tobacco for 4-6 weeks to discover possible sensitivities.
Many of my patients have osteoarthritis and I've found that acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, moxa, and exercise like Tai Qi or gentle Yoga can be very helpful with this condition.
